Global Analysis from the European Perspective. Preparing for the world of tomorrow

A last week look at Germany

An anarchist group set fire to electricity pylons in Berlin last week in order – as their statement says – to stop “the capitalist death machine.” Their target was Technologiepark Adelsdorf: as a result, 43,000 households, 3,000 companies and two nursing homes were affected and had to function without electricity for up to three days. Yes, war is ubiquitous and the only growth market in Germany is the war industry. Isn’t that reminiscent of the 1930s? In this respect the anarchists are right, are they not? But why left-wing extremist groups terrorize the capital – undisturbed – is not answered by the LKA (Landeskriminalamt = The State Criminal Police Office) and other services. On the contrary the mentioned services gladly and profusely answer the question, why the AfD should rather be made illegal, and they do not shy away from heartily endorsing the idea.

Meanwhile, Germany’s former flagship industry – the automotive sector – is being eclipsed by the Chinese, as last week’s motor show in Munich proved. Chinese manufacturers presented affordable premium models that are pushing BMW and Mercedes to the edge of the market. Yes, history is repeating itself: it was 2008 when the Chinese flooded the European market with cheap photovoltaics and wiped out domestic producers.

What did the politicians do last week? Little, because Merz’s government is even more ineffective and even more unpopular than Scholz’s and it is really difficult to break such records of unpopularity. Congratulations, Mr. Merz!

Neither Merz nor Steinmeier have condemned the murder of Charlie Kirk. Leftists trivialize the assassination, anarchists celebrate it. Together with the government?

Last week, Beatrix von Storch also gave a speech in the Bundestag and spoke of the explosive growth of the Afghan population in Germany: “The result (of Merkel, Baerbock and others’ admission policy – editor’s note) is: in 2015, 75,000 Afghans lived in Germany, now there are 430,000 – an increase of 355,000 or 458% – a city like Bochum in ten years. Even these 430,000 are impossible for Germany to integrate. (…) If the number of Afghans in Germany grows percentage-wise over the next ten years through immigration and family reunification at the same rate as in the last ten years, there will be 2.4 million in 2035, and 11 million in 2045. This figure of 11 million is of course only for illustrative purposes. It is not realistic. Because before that, our social systems, our public security – lastly Germany alone will collapse.”

Dear Fatherland! no fear be thine,

Great hearts and true watch by the Rhine

(…)

So long as we have blood to tun,

So long as we can hold a gun,

So long as we can wield a brand,

No foe, O Rhine, shall tread thy stand!
