Paris will abandon Christmas market, workers threaten to protest

Market stall staff and fairground workers are threatening to march on Paris and block its roads if the police do not allow the traditional Christmas market on the Champs-Elysées to take place. In July, the Mairie (town hall) of Paris broke off its contract with the organiser – Marcel Campion, often informally known as the “king of fairground workers” – of the traditional German-style market, a decision that has already caused controversy. Iran encourages Russia to ditch the dollar

Iran has suggested isolating the US by ditching the dollar during a meeting yesterday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Tehran. Remonstrating against US threats to impose new sanctions and cancel the nuclear agreement, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said: “We can nullify US sanctions, using methods such as eliminating the dollar and replacing it with national currencies in transactions between two or more parties; thus, isolate the Americans.” Source Middle East Monitor
