Russian general killed, two servicemen wounded in Syria explosion

A military adviser in the rank of a major-general was killed in an explosion in Syria while two servicemen were wounded, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday.

An improvised roadside bomb exploded 15 km from the city of Deir ez-Zor when a Russian military convoy was returning to its base after a humanitarian mission on August 18, the ministry’s press office said. Source Tass

Turkey, Libya, Qatar agree to ink military deal

Libya’s deputy defense minister on Monday announced that his country has agreed with Turkey and Qatar to sign a tripartite deal for military cooperation to boost capabilities of the Libyan military. According to media office of the government-led Burkan Al-Ghadab (Volcano of Rage) Operation, Salah Al-Namroush said Turkey and Qatar will establish facilities in Libya for military training and consultancy. The Netherlands: Emergency orders Utrecht and Amersfoort, again due to unrest

Emergency orders were issued last night in several neighborhoods in Utrecht. The municipality says that a group of young people in the vicinity of Marnixlaan in the Zuilen district and in the Ondiep district has thrown fireworks and that an emergency order is therefore issued for the entire area. According to a spokesman for the police, the Mobile Unit has also been deployed. Chinese State Media: F-16 fighter jet deal deemed another US provocation amid rising Taiwan Straits tensions

The island of Taiwan has formally signed an agreement with US arms firm Lockheed Martin to buy 66 F-16V fighter jets, reports said on Saturday, further raising tensions in the Taiwan Straits, and coming just two days after the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) announced large-scale drills in response to US provocations and Taiwan secessionist activities.
