On July 13, special forces from the counterterrorism unit arrived in Basra to protect the oil companies and oil fields in the province. President Vladimir Putin told Gazprom PJSC to turn to refilling European gas-storage facilities next month, signaling that long-awaited additional Russian supplies could be on the way.
