A prison inmate in northwestern France who on Tuesday seriously wounded two guards in a knife attack described as a terrorist incident was later detained in a police raid, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said. The detainee’s wife, who had been visiting him at the time and who was holed up with him in the family-visiting area of the high-security prison at Conde-sur-Sarthe, in Normandy, was shot dead during the raid. OPEC+ headed for a clash with the U.S. as more members rejected President Joe Biden’s call for the group to raise oil production faster and help reduce gasoline prices. On Monday, Kuwait said the cartel should stick with its plan to increase output gradually because oil markets were well-balanced.
