Russia and Belarus may partially merge their economies starting from January 2021, Russia’s Kommersant business daily reported Monday. “This degree of integration is higher than in the European Union. Basically the talk is about the creation of a confederate state at the level of economies in 2022,” Kommersant said, quoting a draft economic integration program, initialed by the parties in early September, but not made public. OPEC+ headed for a clash with the U.S. as more members rejected President Joe Biden’s call for the group to raise oil production faster and help reduce gasoline prices. On Monday, Kuwait said the cartel should stick with its plan to increase output gradually because oil markets were well-balanced.
