Defence Minister exaggerated army sexual abuse for personal gain, say critics

Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen informed the country of “repulsive” sexual exploitation at an army barracks in February. But an investigation by prosecutors found she spoke to soon. In February von der Leyen informed the German parliament’s defence committee that senior soldiers at the Pfullendorf training barracks in Baden-Württemberg had subjected their subordinates to degrading sexual practices.
