Fed overnight repo operation oversubscribed

The New York Fed’s overnight repo operation offering liquidity to broker-dealers was oversubscribed on Tuesday. The Fed tendered $100 billion of temporary funds in return for high-quality collateral like Treasurys and mortgage-backed bonds, with $108.6 billion of bids offered for the available funds. The longer-term 14-day repo operation of $20 billion was also oversubscribed by around 3.5 times. Source MarketWatch

New strikes called as French PM acts on pension bill

Workers’ union the CGT has called for new strike action next week in protest at what it called the government’s “deeply scandalous attitude” towards pushing through pension reform.

Prime Minister Edouard Philippe confirmed the use of Constitution article 49.3 article in the afternoon on Saturday February 29, after a Council of Ministers that took place at midday. The move was unexpected, as the meeting had previously been reported as an emergency discussion on coronavirus. Source The Connextion  France

Greece: Patrol support by tractor for the protection of borders from farmers in Evros (video)

Evros people and farmers also support the army and police forces, who are trying to prevent migrants from accumulating on the Turkish-Greek border from crossing into Greece.

It was noted that in the Ferecik (Feres) region of Evros, the farmers took their tractors to the Tsirosia region in the Evros Delta on Monday evening and that the army and police forces working in that region were trying to help the tractors with their headlights. Source Azinlikca
