Dozens detained on suspicion of preparing major terrorist attack in Denmark

Denmark’s police have arrested some two dozen people suspected of planning a massive terrorist attack “motivated by Islamism” in a large-scale nationwide operation. Along with the Danish Security and Intelligence Service, law enforcement authorities launched a “comprehensive and coordinated” operation in at least six regions of the northern European country, including its capital Copenhagen. Chinese library sparks outrage over report staff burned ‘banned books’

Staff at a public library in northwest China have set fire to “banned books” in front of the building, sparking anger online and drawing comparisons with the actions of a ruthless emperor during the Qin dynasty.
According to a report on the county government website of Zhenyuan, Gansu province, the library did a “thorough clean-up” of its donated books and destroyed all “illegal publications and religious publications, especially books, pictorial publications and visual content that showed leanings”. Japan to keep pushing coal in developing world despite criticism

Japan will continue providing backing to new coal-fired power projects in developing countries, a government source said Monday, despite international efforts to move away from fossil fuels that are responsible for climate change.

“There is a need for coal-fired power generation, mainly from developing Asian countries where demand for energy is surging,” the source said. “We’re not planning to review our (infrastructure) export policy.” Source Japan Times
