Turkey stalls NATO’s Russia defense plans for eastern Europe over Syria

Ankara has been accused of holding eastern Europe hostage as it refuses to back NATO’s collective defensive. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland had called on NATO to set up a defense against Russia. Turkey refused to support a NATO defense proposal for Poland and the Baltics until the inter-government military alliance offers stronger political support to combat a Kurdish militia group in northern Syria , four senior NATO sources have said. India’s crude steel output falls 3.4 per cent in October, Global steel output was down 2.8 per cent

India’s crude steel output fell 3.4 per cent to 9.089 million tonne (MT) during October 2019, according to World Steel Association (worldsteel). The country had produced 9.408 MT crude steel during the same month a year-ago, the global industry body said in its latest report. Global steel output stood at 151.494 MT in October 2019, 2.8 per cent down compared to 155.833 MT October 2018, it said. Source The Hindu BusinessLine

Global car sales expected to slide by 3.1 million this year in steepest drop since Great Recession

  • Global car sales are expected to decline by about 3.1 million in 2019 — a larger unit drop than in 2008, according to Fitch Ratings.
