Global Analysis from the European Perspective. Preparing for the world of tomorrow

The Downing of Flight MS804 Can Crash the European Economy

Is the downing of MH804 the first in a series of attacks that will crash the European economy? It is not yet clear what brought the Egyptian Flight MS804 down. No Jihadist group has claimed responsibility until now. The data from the plane sent to a data center just before the crash indicates that there was smoke near the cockpit. One of the possible scenario’s is that some of the Charles De Gaulle airport staff smuggled a bomb on board of the plane. The same plot brought down the Russian plane 1)Exclusive: Egypt detains two airport staff over Russian air crash – security sources Source Reuters. If this scenario turned out to be true, we expect ISIS will reuse this kind of attacks on an even much wider scale. Not only will it be a human tragedy and raise tensions between Muslims and non-Muslims, but also it will have economical consequences. If we see a couple of other planes falling from the sky, European airline industry will come to a stand still and the European economy will be hamstrung. Investing in the European aviation industry and holding stocks in airlines is now a gamble.
