Taiwan’s export orders down 12.8% year-on-year in January

Total export orders declined 12.8 percent from a year earlier to US$35.32 billion after a year-on-year increase of 0.9 percent in December 2019, which ended 13 consecutive months of decline, the figures showed. On a month-on-month basis, export orders received in January also fell 19.4 percent from a month earlier and were down 2.9 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the figures. Maersk operates massive container ships. It’s canceled 50 sailings over coronavirus

Maersk, the world’s largest container shipping company, has warned of a “very weak” start to the year as the coronavirus keeps factories shuttered in China and dents demand for the transport of goods. The Danish ship operator said Thursday that it has canceled more than 50 trips to and from Asia since the Lunar New Year holiday was extended because of the outbreak.  Source CNN Business
