British Airways to cut up to 12,000 jobs in wake of record loss

British Airways is to axe as many as 12,000 jobs after plunging to its worst ever quarterly loss and admitting air travel will take years to recover from a global collapse.

The firm’s parent company said that the coronavirus pandemic and tough quarantine rules around the world will cause long-term changes in the industry. The cuts amount to more than a quarter of the airline’s 45,000-strong workforce. Source The Telegraph

French government announces ‘historic’ €7 billion aid pakage for Air France-KLM

The French government announced a 7-billion-euro ($7.6-billion) aid package Friday to rescue Air France, whose planes have been largely grounded by virus lockdowns around the world. Speaking on national television TF1, Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire pledged 4 billion euros of loan guarantees and 3 billion euros of direct loans to “save our national airline.” Source France 24
