BRICS Summit: China bulldozed India’s security concerns as Russia looked the other way

China blocked India’s attempts to include the names of terror groups like JeM and LeT in the BRICS’ Goa Declaration but what has hurt the government more, as sources said, is Russia’s disinclination to argue India’s case. Can’t ban all imports from China: Centre

India can’t impose a blanket ban on all imports from China, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said. But it is possible to introduce anti-dumping duties and safeguard mechanisms on certain products. Trade between the two Asian economies declined from more than $72 billion in 2014-15 to $70.7 billion in 2015-16, India’s trade deficit with China rose to $52.68 billion from $48.48 billion in 2014-15.
