NATO “ready to intervene in Balkans” – report

Russia’s Sputnik agency is reporting on Tuesday, quoting Croatian daily Vecernji List, which said it was able to “exclusively” see a NATO document that states:”NATO is ready to intervene in the Balkans operatively when necessary to prevent inter-ethnic conflict and promote security and stability,” said the “secret NATO document on the situation in the Western Balkans,” Source B92

Russia courts Serbia amid EU dispute

Serbian leaders have voiced anger at the EU amid a dispute with Croatia. The opening of chapter 26 (education and culture) is to be delayed after Croatia voiced objections. Serbian foreign minister, who met Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov in the Serbian capital the same day, told press: “If Croatia is the one to decide about whether Serbia will enter the EU, then my interest just dropped somehow”.
