Turkey will carry out new military operations along its borders after its two previous offensives into Syria, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday, as he announced his manifesto for next month’s snap elections.Turkey is now carrying out an offensive into northern Syria’s Afrin region against the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, which Ankara considers a terrorist organization linked to Kurdish militants waging an insurgency on Turkish soil. Turkey will maintain its presence in the northern Syrian province of Afrin until it has been secured, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on May 4. “We will remain in Afrin and we will be there until we assure its security,” Erdoğan said, speaking at the Istanbul Youth Festival. “Idlib, Tal Rifaat and Manbij will be next,” he added, naming Syrian provinces.
