Charleroi Airport baggage handler arrested for terrorist threats on Facebook

The suspect had attracted attention by issuing terror threats on his Facebook profile, Sudpresse reported. According to a source close to the investigation, he reportedly said he “wanted to shoot policemen with a Kalashnikov”. An investigation was launched immediately, while the suspect’s badge was deactivated upon the order of the Public Prosecutor, who opened the investigation. The Federal Judicial Police at Charleroi subsequently carried out searches and wire taps, which yielded evidence that the suspect had pressured other members of staff to favour the employment of friends and people of North African origin.
