Turkey dismisses US threats, amasses troops on Syrian border

Turkey said Tuesday it will go ahead with a military operation in northeastern Syria and won’t bow to threats over its Syria plans, an apparent reply to U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning.  Trump said earlier this week the United States would step aside for an expected Turkish attack on Syrian Kurdish fighters, who have fought alongside Americans for years. But he then threatened to “totally destroy and obliterate” Turkey’s economy if they went too far. Source France24

Angry French farmers stage road blockades across the country

French farmers are staging a blockade of the country’s major roads in a protest over the ‘disregard’ of their profession. The unions say their protest is over three things: “Agribashing, which damages the image of our daily business, trade agreements aimed at importing food that we do not want and distortions of competition that are slowly killing French agriculture.” Source The Local

MOWN DOWN Limburg truck rampage – Eight injured as ‘hijacked’ lorry ploughs into cars in Germany ‘terror attack’ and ’32-year-old Syrian arrested’

COPS are today probing a suspected terror attack after a “hijacked” lorry rammed into cars in Germany leaving eight people injured, according to reports.

The truck – which was reportedly stolen just moments before – slammed into a line of eight vehicles in the western town of Limburg last night. Source the Sun

Denmark could be bypassed by Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline

Russian energy giant Gazprom said Wednesday its controversial Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline set to supply Europe could bypass Danish waters if Copenhagen continues to withhold permission.

The almost-completed project’s final major hurdle is obtaining an agreement from Denmark that the Baltic Sea pipeline can cross its exclusive economic zone, which is outside its territorial waters. Source The Local
